Updating Your Memory Card For More Photo Storage
So your looking to update your memory card. Why would you want to do this? That’s easy! More memory = more room for photos. For a digital camera the memory card is the cameras film. How much do you want to spend is directly related to how much you want to increase your cameras film or storage capacity.
There are at least half dozen different types of cards on the market and only one will fit into each camera. Different manufacturers use different types of memory cards in their cameras and currently there is no standardization as to the size of the small memory cards for digital cameras. However, each type of card is available with different storage capacity.
Small Standard Storage Capacity
When you buy a new digital camera it usually comes with a small capacity card, typically 64 mega pixels or less sometime, which for most cameras and most photographs will hold around 18-36 pictures depending on the quality. It is always advised to make sure to pick up additional memory cards for digital cameras and with the prices continuing to drop, memory cards for digital cameras with a gigabyte of storage room is rapidly becoming normal.
Digital Video Camera Memory Cards
Several still cameras are also capable of taking video, provided the memory cards for digital cameras it uses has sufficient storage space. About the smallest card a person would want for a short video if 264 megapixels. This size card is also good for every day use and can hold about 250 typical pictures at one or three megapixel.
